Review: In 1945, towards the end of WWII, the city of Dresden was destroyed by massive bombardment. Over the last 50 years it has been lovingly reconstructed. This process, culminating in the rebuilding of the Frauenkirche (the Church of Our lady) is documented in this book. The first part of the book chronicles: the destruction of Dresden; the situation in 1945; the objectives of the urban development; the reconstruction of the Semper Opera House, the Castle, Taschenberg Palace, the Academy of Arts, the Yenidze tobacco and cigarette factory, Villa Eschebach, the Neumarkt and the Cosel Palace. The second part describes in detail the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche.
