This book aims to provide some practical guidance to Member States of the IAEA and the medical professions involved in the release of patients after therapy with unsealed radionuclides. Guidelines are provided for national authorities on which to base their regulations and guidance, helping to resolve the diversity of international practices in this area. It also provides an essential element of the release programme: information that must be made available to the patient, their carers and family to allow release to be achieved without undue anxiety or misplaced concern. Particular attention is paid to the questions that are most frequently asked by patients. |
