The goal of image registration is, using two images taken from different perspectives or devices, to determine a suitable transformation so that the transformed version of the first image is similar to the second image. This book is about sound theoretical modelling, an efficient practical implementation, and a precise map connecting the two. It discusses the latest techniques, both theoretical and practical, with access given (via a webpage) to FLAIR, software that enables users to experiment with the proposed algorithms and explore the given examples more thoroughly. There are chapters on: FAIR; Image interpolation; Transforming images by parameterized transformations; Landmark-based registration; Distance measures; Parametric image registration; Regularization; Nonparametric image registration; and an Outlook. |
