Review: The object of this book is to provide detailed knowledge on the behaviour of the atmosphere and enable readers to make predictions of this behaviour. The book is not only aimed at atmospheric scientists, at undergraduate to research level, but also at the wider community of environmental scientists where the effect of the atmosphere can also have important consequences. This would include studies on rainfall, storm frequency, air quality, spread of disease, water resources and food supply. The Editors have gathered twelve expert contributors, all from the UK with one from the USA and one from Denmark. Chapters are: the climate of the earth, chemical evolution of the atmosphere, atmospheric energy and the structure of the atmosphere, biogeochemical cycles, tropospheric chemistry and air pollution, cloud formation and chemistry, particulate matter in the atmosphere, stratospheric chemistry and ozone depletion, boundary layer meteorology and atmospheric dispersion, urban air pollution, global warming and climate change science.
