GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation program. It’s a free open-source software (from http://gimp.org) for creating and editing digital images and is suitable for professional artwork, but also can be used just for fun. This book assumes no previous knowledge of GIMP and begins with the basics, explaining the windows, menus and interface conventions. It goes on to explain image-editing tasks, such as using layers, drawing, selection and touching up. Further chapters explain: filters and effects; colour; advanced drawing; advanced compositing; plug-ins and scripting; and additional topics, such as printing, screen shots and GIMP preferences. |
