The twelve chapters of this book include contributions to the day-symposium held in honour of Robyn M. Dawes plus some additional contributions. The contributions reflect recent research that has been, in one way or another, indebted to his inspiration over the years and show the diverse interests of Dawes and his impact on psychological theory and empirical practice. The themes of rationality and social responsibility run through the book. Dawes has always urged investigators to look at how individuals can reconcile self-interest (rationality) with the collective good (social responsibility). The topics of judgement and decision-making also have their challenges: rational judgement is the most responsible judgement because it minimizes errors. Here to attain rationality individuals will need to accept the limitations of their own intuitions. The CD contains an interview with Robyn M. Dawes. |
