The accurate, efficient and reliable simulation of problems involving the flows of liquids and gases is required in many fields in science and technology. This textbook aims to aid graduate students to progress from a minimum knowledge to familiarity with finite element computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in one academic term. It focuses on incompressible viscous flows and covers: finite-element methods; the derivation, behaviour, analysis and numerical analysis of Navier-Stokes equations; and turbulence and turbulence models used in simulation. The ten chapters are divided into three parts: Mathematical foundations; Steady fluid flow phenomena; and Time-dependent fluid flow phenomena. |
