This textbook, now in its third edition, covers the core material needed to provide an understanding of the basic chemistry of drug molecules. There have recently been many changes in the science and practice of pharmacy in the UK: independent pharmacy prescribing is a reality, and the Royal Pharmaceutical College is to split into a regulatory body and a Royal College. This latest edition has responded to the changes with a new chapter on the regulation and licensing of drugs and medicines as well as being updated throughout. There are chapters on: the chemistry of acids and bases; partition coefficient and biopharmacy; physicochemical properties of drugs; stereochemistry; drug metabolism; volumetric analysis of drugs; analytical spectroscopy; stability of drugs and medicines; kinetics of drug stability; and the licensing of drugs and the British Pharmacopoeia. |
