The end goal of tissue and regenerative medicine is to create products that improve tissue function or heal tissue defects. This monograph contains a collection of contributions from biologists, engineers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, government officials, and regulatory experts, whose viewpoints may serve as catalysts for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The book has sections on: Principles of regenerative medicine; Stem cells in regenerative medicine; Translational approaches to the regeneration of tissues and organs (skin, bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons, dental and craniofacial tissue, neural tissue); Engineering scaffolds and matrices – tailored to specific needs; Common and enabling approaches in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; and Federal funding, industrial approaches, and regulatory medicines. |
