The last decade has seen both an increase in the numbers of children and adolescents suffering depression and advances in their treatment. This large ‘handbook’ brings together experts from Canada, Australia and the USA who are conducting ground-breaking research into the causes, treatment and prevention of depression in children and adolescents. It also summarises the literature of the last decade, and proposes future directions for theory, research and clinical practice. There are sections on: Introduction and epidemiology of depression; Etiology of depression; treatment of depression; Prevention of depression; and Special populations (dealing with adolescents, mothers, youths, and child abuse and neglect). |
