Terrestrial invertebrates are under threat from man and climate change. The vision of this Strategy is a world in which invertebrates are valued and conserved, in parallel with all other groups of organisms. The goal is to halt the loss of invertebrate animal diversity in Europe. To this end, this booklet sets out seven objectives, including: raising awareness of the problem, managing the landscape for sustainability, strengthening European conservation policies, identifying and prioritising key actions, promoting the exchange of information between scientific and public domains, promoting the inclusion of a fully representative variety of invertebrate species into conservation strategies, and building the scientific and technical capacity for conserving invertebrates and identifying areas of urgent further research. This Strategy aims to provide guidance to European governments, decision makers, land managers, scientists and teachers. |
