This is the latest in the Fundamentals of Algorithms series. It gives the current developments and applications in using iterative methods for solving Toepitz systems. Toepitz systems occur in a number of applications in mathematics, scientific computing and engineering, e.g. partial differential equations; numerical solution of convolution-type integral equations; stationary autoregressive time series in statistics; minimal realisation problems in control theory; system identification problems in signal processing, and image restoration problems in image processing. The book has five chapters discussing: an introduction to Toepitz systems and their application; circulant preconditioners; a unified treatment from kernels; ill-conditioned Toepitz systems; and Block Toepitz systems. |
