This book introduces a number of techniques (digital watermarking and other mechanisms) for protecting intellectual property. It looks at the techniques in the context of their application and requirements, as well as from a legal and ethical point of view. The authors begin by discussing the legal background and historical origins of intellectual property. The book is then divided into two segments: the first, and larger segment, concentrates on digital watermarking. This has specific chapters on images, audio data, and other types of media. The second section looks at other protection techniques – for copy protection schemes on general-purpose computers, and protection mechanisms for digital representation of multimedia data. |
