Review: This textbook aims not only to give the facts about nursing, but to teach the reader how to nurse children in a way that they can remember and apply to any child in their care. The book is divided into three parts (and nine ‘modules’). Part 1 deals with health in childhood (families, the growing child and promoting child health). Part 2 covers health and deviations in childhood (families in stress, caring for sick children). The last part discusses professional issues in child care (the development and process of children’s nursing, legal and ethical issues, managing professional practice). This new edition reflects the changes in children’s nursing that have occurred since the late 1990s. The government have brought in new laws and guidelines and the text has been changed to show how government policy affects practice. A new chapter on sexuality problems of adolescence has also been included.
