Review: This book aims to combine some of the most recent innovative research with reviews and specific aspects of tissue engineering to provide a source of the latest for undergraduates, postgraduates and interested researchers from industry. The 26 chapters are divided into two parts. Part 1 contains chapters on materials used for tissue engineering: polymers, ceramics; bioactive ceramics and glasses, and composites. There are also specific chapters on characterisation techniques, such as: X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and secondary ion mass spectrometry, environmental scanning electron microscopy, confocal microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The second part gives specific examples of organ and tissue regeneration, for bone, skin, liver, kidney, bladder, nerves, lung, intestine and cartilage.
