The authors in this, the third edition, are almost entirely different from those of previous editions, so this volume could be considered to be new. For example, this edition not only contains several chapters with an explicit neuroscience focus, but neurosciences are mentioned in most of the other chapters. There are also new chapters on behavioural genetics, knowledge, and within-personality variability. The book begins with a chapter reviewing the structural and functional neuroimaging research in ageing. There are also chapters on: the neuropsychology of Altzheimer’s disease; attention; working memory; language and ageing; knowledge and cognitive ageing; intra-individual variability, cognition and ageing; and lifespan cognitive development. |
