This, the first major report on climate change for six years, has been made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The large volume begins with a look at the way in which climate change science has been progressing. The next six chapters deal with the changes in atmospheric constituents (both gases and aerosols) that affect the radiative energy balance in the atmosphere and determine the Earth’s climate. Chapter 8 looks at the modelling of physical processes and the evaluation of the models against observed climate; and the final chapter examines the use of models to make future projections of global and regional climates. |
