This introductory textbook for pre-registration nursing students provides a foundation to psychology applied to nursing care. There are seven chapters, the first of which offers a preliminary insight into the different perspectives in psychology; these then under pin the topics in the other six chapters. The chapters are: ‘Who is a nurse?’; ‘How do nurse learn?’; Understanding health and illness through the lifespan; Psychological theory for nursing in a social world; managing the therapeutic relationship; and ‘How do people cope with suffering?’. |
