Review: This is the latest in the Fundamentals of Algorithms series. It is for undergraduates who have already taken an introductory scientific computing/numerical analysis course. The book is in three parts. The first introduces some areas of data mining and pattern recognition: linear algebra concepts and matrix decompositions. Part II applies algebra techniques to data mining problems. . The last part provides an introduction to eigenvalues and singular value algorithms.
