Review: The co-operation group to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Drugs is an inter-governmental body set up in 1971. This book is the result of a project set up by the group to look at the needs of political decision-makers. It uses the data from the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs (ESPAD) for 15–16 year olds to conduct an in-depth analysis of the risk factors for substances used in Iceland, France and Malta as a case study. It also looks at the ESPAD data in science, the media and in public policy from the French experience. It addresses the question of what are the risk factors in adolescent drug use and looks at whether the school surveys can elucidate the risk and how this knowledge could be applied to policy decisions.
