The first edition of this textbook focused on three communications problems: fixed-site antennas, radiowave propagation and small antennas proximate to the body. This new edition has a co-author who provides new material on ultrawideband (UWB) technology and a focus on mobile/cellular in the section on personal communications systems. There are chapters on: fixed-site antennas; the radio communications channel; the radio frequency spectrum; communications using Earth-orbiting satellites; radiowave propagation over a smooth Earth; urban and suburban paths in radiowave propagation; signals in multipath propagation; receiver sensitivity and transmitted fields; simulated human body devices; loops, dipoles and patch antennas; and radio communications system designs. The CD-ROM includes MathCAD templates and software examples that are linked to the text. |
