Review: Here Michael Bell conjectures how the human race and the society that it has created may evolve and change in the next 150 years. The book itself (made up of three books – downloadable as e-books) begins with Book One – Globalization. This looks at the process in detail under five headings: economics, culture, taxation, the law and politics. It places importance on group-centred activity, describing the development of society from a group-centred perspective. Book Two – New human beings, 2020–2060, tracks the future of major institutions, such as the nation state and language as globalization and technology have increasing effects. The author sees the development of ‘people power’, expressed through the Internet, to lead to the isolation of nation states and the creation of a world political union with direct electronic voting by individuals. Book Three – 2157 A vision of the future takes an imaginary journey through the 21st century and beyond, creating a vision of a very different, but still human, world.
