Narratives are accounts of experiences over time within an overall plot of a beginning, a middle and an end. Narrative data are collected through listening to a patient’s stories about their experiences and interpretation of an illness, treatment or care. Researchers need listening skills to elicit narratives. This book explains how to collect, analyse and present the data. Ethical issues are discussed. Finally, the critique and problems inherent in narrative enquiry are examined – as well as ways of solving them. |
