Combustion is the most common method of energy conservation that is currently used. This textbook provides the basic theory, maths and physical concepts of combustion. It begins with a review of the thermodynamic concepts, their applications and the directions of the reactions. It goes on to give an overview of the solid, liquid and gaseous fuels that can be used and their properties. There are also chapters on: different forms of conservation equations; analyses of fuel combustion, including jet combustion and boundary layer problems; ignition; flame propagation; interactive and group combustion; pollutant formation and control; and turbulent combustion. |
