These two volumes update the Handbook; previous editions were the authoritative standards of their times. This latest edition includes more on diagnostic and therapeutic applications. The chapters include and introduction to the topic and a basis of further reading. There are reviews of the physiological, biological and cognitive responses to various exposures to magnetic fields and an approach to setting standards for exposure limits. New to this edition are: recent results of epidemiological studies for EM and RF exposures; a new look at the effects of extra-low frequencies (ELF) and RF fields; specific medical applications of ELF and RF imaging; new material on electroporation and RF imaging; and a review of current exposure standards, the standard setting process, and the precautionary principle. |
