This textbook, now in its fourth edition, provides an introduction to statistics for college and university students. In order to provide balanced content, it begins with data analysis, goes on to data production and probability, to inference. To give students experience with data, the examples and exercises use real data from many fields of study and from everyday life. The book also aims to give students the ability to identify the larger pattern and the big ideas of statistics. There are sections on: variables and distributions; relationships; producing data; probability and sampling distributions; inference; quantitative response variables; and categorical response variables. This new edition has additional new examples and exercises and a new chapter on data ethics, as well as using icons and photos to aid the reader. |
