This well-illustrated book provides the grounding that one needs for informed discussion about climate change. It is divided into seven parts – each part covering a different aspect of climate change: the signs from around the world that give warning of climate change; the forces of change (the climate system, greenhouse effect) and the interpretation of past climates and predictions for the future; the drivers of change such as the burning of fossil fuel and the increase in vehicle use; the expected consequences; the current international response to climate change; and the personal measures one can take. The last chapter includes relevant data, country by country, on the water resources, emissions and population distribution. |
