This large book comprises 92 chapters, written by leading figures, that provide a picture of current scientific understanding of key issues that relate the study of glaciers to the broader field of environmental change. There are five sections, each with a keynote introduction and a series of articles reviewing particularly significant areas within the topic. The sections include: glaciers and their coupling with hydraulic and sedimentary processes; Glaciers, oceans, atmosphere and climate; Changing glaciers and their role in Earth surface evolution; Glacier composition, mechanics and dynamics; and The practice of glaciology. |
