Review: Almost all the problems in this book, now in its second edition, come from published collections of problem sets for mathematics competitions. The problems are from various branches of mathematics and the author grades some showing an additional level of difficulty and others with an even further level of difficulty. The author has competed in the International Mathematical Olympiad for in the 1980s and apart from showing solutions he also shows that there are many simple tricks to take less time and ways of looking at a problem to make it easier to find a solution strategy. Table of contents: 1 Strategies in problem solving, 2 Examples in number theory, 3 Examples in algebra and analysis, 4 Euclidean geometry, 5 Analytic geometry, 6 Sundry examples.
