These are the proceedings of the conference held by the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM) in Liège in 2002. It provides an anthology of papers on interdisciplinary research topics that can be followed up and taken further. The 20 papers are divided into seven sections: Creativity in musicology and the philosophy of music; Creativity in musical listening; Creativity in educational settings; Creativity in musical performance; Creativity in music therapy; Neuroscientific approaches to musical creativity; and Computer models of creative behaviour. The final chapter asks ‘How can we understand creativity in a composer’s work. |
