Review: This book is for health professionals (other than clinicians) who need information about the mechanism of action, therapeutic indications and unwanted effects of medicines. The 4-page introduction talks about non-prescription medicines, innovations in drug development, cost-effectiveness, interactions, drugs and medicine, names of drugs, drugs safety monitoring, drugs in pregnancy, and drug combinations. This is followed by definitions of drug group names and medical terms. The bulk of the book is made up of descriptions of the drugs (listed alphabetically both by their chemically-approved names and their trade or brand names), giving their mechanism of action, therapeutic indications, and main unwanted effects.
