Posttraumatic stress disorder after terrorist events, war, and natural or man-made disasters is common, disabling and unfortunately is often undiagnosed. This book is a collection of papers presented by international experts at a NATO Advanced Research Workshop in Croatia, 2005. The text is organized into sections on Epidemiology and Pathophysiology of PTSD, Diagnosis and Screening, Management of PTSD, Virtual Reality Therapy in the Treatment of PTSD and Related Psychiatric Conditions, and Other Aspects of Military Healthcare. A final section presents the reports of four working groups on Diagnostic and Epidemiological Concerns, Technological Challenges in the use of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy, Novel Approaches for the Integration of Behavioural Therapy and Virtual Reality, and Assessment and Follow-Up. |
