For all those aircraft buffs who love old aircraft, here is a book to gladden the heart. It consists of many beautifully printed coloured photographs ranging from early biplanes to historic jets. The pictures were all taken by the author in his travels around the world. He defines ‘preserved aircraft’ as ones in museums, grounded such as gate guards or kept flying long after they would normally be retired. There is no table of contents but there is an index so you can find a particular aircraft that the author has photographed, and there is a surprisingly wide range. Many are in fine condition but some look fairly dilapidated. The format is A4, with 158 pages so the pictures are a reasonable size and give good, clear detail. The only text is captions, giving the name, a brief history and mention of the location of the aircraft. |
