This volume and accompanying CD contains over 500 papers from the Ninth International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability - Icossar'05 - held in Rome, Italy, 19-23 June 2005. The evaluation and reduction of risk has become key in engineering research and applications. Probabilistic and statistical methods are now developed by engineers as well as professors and researchers. This conference covered the following eight subjects under which the abstracts are arranged: Earthquake Engineering; Materials Damage, Bridges, Buildings; Offshore Structures, Wind, Geotechnical Problems, Life-cycle Optimisation , System Control; Computational Stochastic Mechanics; Structural Identification, Hazard Control; RBD, Aero-nuclear Structures, Fatigue, Lifelines; Random Vibrations. Plenary and semi-plenary lectures are also included along with a special section covering analysis of the Twin Towers disaster of 11 September 2001. |
