This book is for Java developers at a basic or intermediate level who are looking for interesting and useful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) or for project ideas. The eight chapters each cover a particular area of Java. The first chapter discusses the core API features – some that are older and some that are new to Java. Later chapters cover: string processing techniques; XML and HTML documents; the Semantic Web; scientific and mathematical applications in Java; APIs for graphical applications; sound and music APIs; and a variety of open-source projects and ideas for creating your own projects. |
