Review: This textbook, for undergraduates and graduate-level courses in wildlife management gives both a solid grounding in wildlife ecology and an understanding of wildlife conservation and management. In this edition the chapters are arranged to progress from individuals to populations, communities, and ecosystems. There are new chapters on: how animals find their food; the use of age- and stage-structured information in populations as a method of identifying rates of increase; using modern statistical methods to choose between alternative models; and looking at the community and ecosystem ecology as a background to managing whole systems. The CD includes a set of interactive MATHCAD programs that provide the tools for numerical computation, graphic depiction of results, and word processing. The accompanying tutorials help the user to learn how to use MATHCAD and develop simple ecological models.
