This book, for young civil engineers and civil engineering students, teaches the abstract principles and concepts along with examples and illustrations. It is organized into four parts: Part 1 describes the data that are needed in order to design a civil engineering project, and how the construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimate fit into the overall scheme of a set of bid documents. Part 2 goes through the details and mechanics of preparing a set of construction drawings for a civil design project, and includes the use of drawing production techniques and CAD. Part 3 shows how to prepare technical specifications, emphasising the CSI format. The last part shows how to put together an engineers cost estimate, including estimating quantities and developing unit and lump-sum prices. |
