Tony Kordyban, a thermal engineer, gives short case histories of electronic cooling problems and solutions. The book comprises instructive and entertaining articles that were originally published in a monthly thermal design newsletter called Hotnews. The articles have been loosely arranged in seven sections: measurement and test; fans; components and materials; radiation; the industry standard definition for component thermal resistance; miscellaneous stories; and the telecom field. The case studies, written in the form of anecdotes, explode many of the myths of cooling electronics and replace them with sound heat transfer theory. This is a sequel to the 1998 book Hot Air Rises and Heat Sinks: Everything you know about Cooling Electronics is Wrong. |
