There is now increasing emphasis in the power generating industry on getting a return on investment. This book provides economic guidance and support for managing the construction of a new plant or modifying an older one in a cost-effective way. It aims to provide support at three different levels. First, it provides information on managing the economics of power plant construction that will be useful for the day-to-day work of the site superintendent. Second it will help the site general manager to direct his staff towards a coordinated and focused approach to their work. And last, it will provide the management with the knowledge of what they can expect from their workforce and how they can give guidance and support. There are chapters on: planning the process; understanding the contractual commitments; the commercial side; risk management; setting up the jobsite; personnel; ensuring quality; managing safety performance; managing the financials; managing the site activities – cost control; pulling it all together; and doing it overseas. |
