Designer and author Hillman Curtis here describes nine of his projects, each lasting between 60 seconds and ten minutes and aimed at capturing the essence of the subject in video. They take various forms: documentaries, music videos, a fictional short film, and a series of video portraits. The book also gives an insight into the ideas and concepts that drive the author’s own filmmaking process, from the set up, shoot and assembly of the rough cut, to the final edit. It also gives practical advice on direction, sound editing and interviewing, with a primer to filmmaking: explaining the equipment needed and a description of the filmmaking process. The Appendix explains how to build your own Flash Video player. |
