This book, by John Norman, Deputy Assistant Chief of the FDNY, offers the basic goals for handling specific types of emergencies and practical tips on how to achieve those goals. The book has two parts. The first part, General fire-fighting tactics, addresses: general activities, goals, tasks and size-up processes; attack functions, methods and duties (engine company operations); and support functions, methods and duties (ladder company operations). The second part, Specific fire situations, deals with fires and emergencies in the most common structures and occupancies. |
