This anthology, from five South Asian countries, looks at climate variability, climate change and water resources in the region. Monsoon is an integral part of the hydrologic cycle of water availability in South Asia and Global Climate Models predict that climate change will have a profound impact on monsoon: the precipitation as well as the water supply and its management. Hydrological models for climate impact are therefore described. The implications of climate change in particular areas are discussed in detail: the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna basin; river basins and water resources of Bangladesh; Nepal and Bhutan; India; and Pakistan. |
