This Safety Standard makes recommendations concerning safety features for incorporation into the design of the reactor core for a nuclear power plant. It provides recommendations and guidance on the interpretation and implementation of the Safety Requirements publication, Safety of Nuclear Power Plants: Design. It covers the neutronic, thermal, hydraulic, mechanical, chemical and irradiation considerations that are important for the safe design of the core of a nuclear power reactor. It includes only the internals of the reactor vessel and the devices mounted on the reactor vessel for reactivity control and shutdown. |
