Modern practices are needed to manage the deteriorating water and sewage systems in many systems. Business practices, customer satisfaction, and economic planning are all as important as engineering design. This book covers potable water supply, sewerage and stormwater drainage. It looks at basic design methods and ways of improving design and management of the water facilities. The author, a professor at the University of Botswana and international water consultant, also discusses hydraulic management (optimum storage, peak flow attenuation, pollution control and effluent discharge) and infrastructure management (rehabilitation, reconstruction, upgrading and maintenance). Topics relevant to economic efficiency include: asset management, privatisation, and risk analysis. |
