This report looks at three main types of risk to birds from power lines: risk of electrocution from perching on wires and poles; risk of collision; and the reduction in the availability of birds for staging and wintering areas. The booklet examines the species that are threatened; the extent of the risk and the different types of electrical transmission facilities and the risks that they pose. Finally, the report gives recommendations and guidelines, with Standards, recommendations, and suggestions for further research and monitoring programmes. |
