The cost of imaging CNS receptors in diseases such as epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s could be significantly reduced through the introduction of pharmaceuticals based on technetium-99m, an isotope significantly cheaper than the widely used iodine-123. This book reports a collaborative research project on 99mTC CNS agents conducted between 1996 and 2001 under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency and involving ten laboratories in Asia, Europe and Latin America. The book presents the results from participating laboratories, together with publications, and also provides conclusions and recommendations from the study. The book will be of use to scientists currently engaged in research on these pharmaceutical agents. |
