Review: In order to design an analogue system, the engineer needs to: sense the analogue signals and convert them to electrical ones; condition the signals to within a range of inputs for accurate processing; convert the analogue signals to digital; make the necessary computations using a high-speed IC digital processor; convert the digital signals back to analogue; and output the analogue signal to perform the required task. This book explains the functions in this chain and shows how to design electronic circuits to perform the functions. Amongst others, there are chapters on: sensors; signal conditioning; digital signal processing; assembly language programming; data communications and system power and control. The final chapter explains how to build and implement an application using a microprocessor. The CD-ROM contains a user’s guide to the MSP430x1xx family of microcontrollers, layout wiring of PBB interconnection layers and an e-version of the text.
