‘Ground and water bioengineering’ describes the structural use of vegetation for the stabilization of slopes or earth structures. This book presents a wide range of research and case studies based on the Asia–Pacific region, a region that has both tropical and subtropical zones and a large plant biodiversity. The turbulent climate of the area causes soil erosion and the use of natural materials is vital to water bioengineering for erosion control and slope stabilization. The 37 papers are divided under four headings: Bioengineering practice for infrastructure; Forestry; Watershed management and agriculture, and Restoration. |
