Hydrology, as a science, includes all aspects of the water cycle, but it is generally applied in the development of water resources or flood control. This textbook provides case studies from the author’s wide experience worldwide: showing the problems and their practical solutions. The locations illustrate a wide variety of climates and terrains, covering areas as diverse as the Nile (1950s), India 91970s), west Africa (1980s) and Sarajevo and central Europe (1990s).. There are chapters on: network design and appraisal; rainfall; evaporation and transportation, soil moisture storage; groundwater recharge; river flow; water balance; surface water resource assessment; flood estimation; and sedimentation and environmental issues. |
