These are 63 papers given at the conference in Leeds in September 2004. E-engineering and digital enterprise technology are becoming the catalysts and prime enablers for the most radical changes in industry since the industrial revolution. They will impose real time transparency on operations and transactions such as: reducing barriers to entry; empowering customers; reinforcing the need for manufacturers to provide unique commodity products; and enabling enterprises to be quick and responsive throughout the product’s life cycle. Topics of the papers include: e-design and e-manufacturing; e-supply chain management, e-logistics and mass customisation; web-based CAD/CAM/CAPP/PDM; virtual and collaborative engineering; web-based modelling and simulations; remote control, condition monitoring and tele-robotics; e-business, e-commerce and e-engineering; digital factory/enterprise; and on-line education and industrial training. |
